Registration Information

Becoming a Member of Avalon

Avalon sponsors Boy Scouts of America's co-ed Venture Crew 1433 of the Bull Run District in Prince William County, Virginia. With your yearly registration, you are becoming a member of Avalon as well as a member of BSA Crew 1433. We follow the BSA April-April "year" and so our registration and rechartering is done February and March of each year, and new members must register to join.

Registration Forms

There are three total forms to fill out to register for Avalon for the year. All can be downloaded from this website. If you do not re-charter before the yearly deadline, you will not be allowed to attend or participate in any Avalon or BSA sponsored function until you fill out the necessary forms and pay the chartering fee.

All members who register for Avalon agree to abide by the Avalon Code of Conduct Also, even members of other BSA groups must fill out all necessary forms, depending on which age group you fall into:

Ages 21 & Over
Need downloadable Avalon Release Form. Need downloadable BSA Adult Registration Form. All members age 21 and over are considered "adults" in BSA. Please let us know if you would like to hold an Adult Leadership Position for the Crew.

Ages 18, 19, & 20
Need downloadable Avalon Release Form. Need downloadable BSA Youth Registration Form. All members age 21 and over are considered "adults" in BSA, rendering you to be "youth" technically. These ages may also hold youth Venture Crew Officer positions.

Ages 14-17
Need downloadable Avalon Release Form & BSA Permission Form. BSA considers ages 14-20 to be "youth." Ages 14-17 fill out the downloadable Youth Registration Form and need parental signatures on all forms.

However, Avalon requires an additional Avalon Sponsor age 18 or older for any youth under age 16 before they can play Avalon game functions. No sponsor is needed to participate in fundraisers or meetings. Avalon Sponsors assist these youth by preparing/training them with learning game rules, understanding expectations of the Avalon Code of Conduct, wearing boots & other appropriate gear for outdoor weather, etc.

Morsander Release Form

The Morsander release form is required for anyone wishing to participate at the October Morsander events. This form is separate from the release form for other chapters.

Blood Moon Release Form

The Blood Moon release form is required for anyone wishing to participate at the October Morsander events. This form is separate from the release form for other chapters.

Yearly Registration Fees

The registration fees for the entire year totals to $25. Members for the current year in other BSA groups would pay a discounted $16 yearly fee but still need all forms so our Crew also has your info. As stated above, Avalon sponsors BSA Venture Crew 1433, thus this yearly registration fee includes the Avalon Game Fee and the BSA Crew Registration/Recharter fee combined. Avalon accepts cash and money orders. We also accept cashiers checks, travelers checks, and personal checks made out to "Avalon LLC". We prefer any checks written for this registration fee to be written separately from event fees and such to ease the registration process.

The Avalon Game Fee helps pays for miscellaneous fees such as copying, phone notifications, keeping your character in the Avalon database, utilizing Avalon-safe equipment, and other membership privileges for the year. The BSA Registration Fee includes full insurance coverage for emergencies at all functions, good clean-cut fun utilizing BSA regulations, certifications in First Aid and CPR among members, trained leaders, assistance for Eagle Scouts, Totin' Chip training, etc. Members of other BSA groups pay the discounted registration fee as noted above ($16 instead of $25) but still turn in all necessary forms.  Yearly Registration should be done at our Monthly Avalon Meetings, especially for youth who need parental/guardian signatures on forms. With signed forms, registration can also be done at the Check In of your Avalon Event. You must be registered with Avalon to play any Avalon Game Event. Once you have registered with Avalon you are welcome to play a character at any Avalon event.
